For VB 6.0:

Add the sysinfo ocx to your project:

Project > Components > "Microsoft SysInfo Control"

You should now have an icon for the control in your toolbox.

Drop one on a form and you can then use it in code.

Example of how it can be used:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.    MsgBox form1.SysInfo1.OSBuild
  2.    MsgBox form1.SysInfo1.OSPlatform
  3.    MsgBox form1.SysInfo1.OSVersion
  4.

This problem is driving me nuts. The code at the end of this post below works fine with IE, but fails with Mozilla. You can see it in action at http://tinyurl.com/2jvo3 With Mozilla 1.4 and 1.6, the function msg works fine if it's installed as an onclick handler for the button, but fails as an onload handler for the page. The error is "console has no properties", and is triggered by the line.

All samples related to this see to come short of being 'truly' dynamic. For instance, after creating all the code to load/save a properties value, you turn around and save it to one you KNOW exists: foo.Height = (my loaded value)... I am trying to load and set the property on the fly - without necessarily knowing what it is. Imagine a 100 name/value pairs in a file (config, res, txt, whatever). I want to load and set those on the fly,...

Hello, I'm trying to call a program (and/or batch file) from a command line from within a standalone VB.NET application - something I would have done using the "System()" function if I was working in C. The only way I've found so far is System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("blah.exe in out")

Hello! I'm working with the prototype library version 1.4.0 and having a strange error lately. When I want to make an Ajax.Updater call, it basically works. But as soon as I put the call into a function, so that I can call it from a popup, I get the error: "html has no properties" (in Firefox)

Hi Is there any way to see what the System process is doing? We have developed an application running at a production site to measure and optimize the production. The application needs to be responsive at all times during production. I'm experiencing some problems with my application not responding or responding slow. I suspeced the problem had to do with high CPU utilization

Hey guys, I'm building a site for a landscaping business down the street and can't seem to get part of the code functioning correctly. The code fails on line 68 where I make a reference to an iframe's src property. Being that IE does not follow standard and considers an id, name, etc as a qualifying identifier for the document.getElementById object, I double checked to make sure that there's only one instance of id = "servif" and I never use...

I've got two projects, both reference system, system.data and system.xml and both include the using System.Xml.Serialization and using System at the top of the file. Both also include the XmlElementAttribute attribute on some properties as defined below, but on one project I get the error "'System' denotes a 'namespace' where a 'class' was expected" and the other project I don't. There highlights the word System on...

Having a hard time phrasing this in the form of a question... The other day I saw a thread where someone asked about overrideable properties and nobody offered the advice that properties are Bad. So maybe we've got over that. I suppose properties could have Bad consequences if a user doesn't know they exist and think that a certain property of an object is just an ordinary attribute. But that applies to

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
