Network Chat

Hey guys, I was looking around the internet a bit but couldn't find anything on my subject. I want to make an application that will be able to chat with another computer (over a network), in VB 2005 (Express). I kind of have an idea of how it will work, but have no idea where to start. Wondering if any of you would know!

Greetings and salutations cjbrx3115!

I have something that works for VB6, can't say that it would for VB Express. Let me know if you'd like to see it. I think Killer42 can also use this informaiton for a Web Browser interaction post (looking for it). Fill me in.

In a bit!

It's really just a link to a beginner tutorial my former VB professor, friend, sent me, fairly simple. I will add here in hopes others can benefit:

Hope this works for for VB Express...

Yeah, works great! Just, the program is for serial ports. Is it possible to make a network chat with IP address connections?

You're a riot, and honest:-)

(1) Keep NumLock pad on
(2) Hold down Alt key
(3) Type 0246 then let go of Alt key (that gets you ö)

For all others

Go to Start
Programs (with IE6)
Accessories
System Tools
Character Map (All accents etc)

Here's something: Looks IE7 does not allow us to see our Character Map. Lukilly I still had this on my desktop, loaded on form the IE6 era

If you're running IE7, please forgive me, I do not know how an umlaut or other accents can be added. What's going on here? Where did Character Map go?

Hello all. I doing a project which uses Macromedia's Flash program and Python. This is a 'because i want to see if i can do it' kind of thing, so i know that there will be better/easier ways to accomplish what i'm about to lay out! I am going to use a flash app as a kind of chat app, but because Flash does not accept incoming socket connections, i'd like to use a small Python server to act as the socket proxy (i think that's the right...

I have been developing a ClientServer application on one machine at my office but the time has come to transfer it to the customer. The customer is running a Windows 2000 local area network. I will keep a copy of the applicaiton and all it's code on one of the client machines connected to the local area network at the customers. This machine has a full blown copy of Visual Studio 2003. SQL Server 2000 is the back-end, both at my office...

Alright, I've set up a chat system that only works half way... I need suggestions on how to make it work better... I'm trying to figure out a way to make $_SESSION viewable to all players by making it equal $cchat, but I don't think it will work... I don't like to use the database because then the chat would become really tangled. It's only there for admin access. I want to keep the chat session specific while having what is posted...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
