Enter Data based on a letter in a string?

3
So lets say I have a column that could have either A,B,C,D in it in whatever order. How would I make it so depending on what letter or combination of letters there is it would output for example:
A for Apple
B for Bubble
C for Cute
D for Dunk
(really random words i know)

if its AB
Apple Bubble with a space in between or if its CB
Cute Bubble

Do I use Select Case or an If statement?
I also need it to check a check box depending on what is selected and every time the selection is changed it changes the output and what is selected... So far i cant make it check different checkboxes and output combinations.
