How to group a field GROUP BY dateTime without taking the time into count?

P: 1
I have a table named Usage with datafield name dateTime. i want to grab the dateTime data into a comboBox named cbDate. the dateTime datatype is in Varchar(45) and it looks like this, 2013-01-29 12:45:11

My problem is, i cant group the date with same date but different time. The combobox will list all the data even though its in the same date, i think its because of the time is different.

I want the combobox to display only date without the time.
2013-01-29 12:45:11 should be group with 2013-01-29 13:00:20.

This doesn't sound like a VB.Net question but more of a SQL question. Let me know which database you're using and I will move your question to the correct forum.
