cannot open database due to this message :because of computer name change

m doin project in vb.net as front - end and sqlserver 2005 as back-end

Change the name back?

Repoint your path to the new server?

maybe not hardcode your paths so you don't have this problem: Read them from a settings file or registry entry

Please take a look at the article titled How to use a database in your program for an explanation (complete with examples) on how to connect to a database.

It sounds like you need to take a look at your Connection String.
Make sure that you are connecting to a computer that exists on your network. Also, make sure that your network can resolve computer names otherwise you won't be able to get to it. It might be a good idea to use the IP instead of the computer name in the long run...but please keep in mind that the computer hosting the database should be assigned a static IP so that your program isn't broken by an IP change.
