Table Adapters add a record

Hi,
I have a sql server database file which I have connected to a web service I am writting I have created a table adapter in a datase.t I have created a web method which has parameters for the fields in the database
<web Method> _
function add_record(byval a as integer , byval b as String)
dim ds as dataset
dim ta as tableadapters.Customertableadapter

end function
but I dont know how to take the data from the parameters to add it into the database I know how to retrieve it using a table adapter and dataset
What is the best method so this could be called remotely of an IIS Server to add data to the database. Please do you have any clues would be much appreciated
