Install SQL before VS or the other way

I wish to install SQL SERVER 2008 and
VS 2008 Team System.

I presently have installed
VS 2008 Pro
and SQL 2005
There is also a folder called SQL Server Compact edition which I think is
from a different installation than the SQL Server (by the folder dates). Is
this from something other than SQL2005?

Looking at the Add/Remove Programs listing there also appears an entry for
VS 2005 professional edition-enu which I don't understand - thought I
removed that before installing vs2008 pro
I thought I'd uninstall everything names SQL.. and VS...

And after that delete any folders so named (if any are left)

Then install the new software. See anything wrong with that?
I'd like to install the new additions on a disk different from the system. Is
that possible?

What sequence should the new software be installed? SQL before VS or the
other way?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice

PS I had asked this in the XP ng but I think those in this ng would be more
likely to know.

So I'll remove that, vs 2008 pro and sqlserver 2005.

Then install sqlserver 2008 and then install vs 2008 team.
Right?
