Is it easy to read a USB Jostick device?

Dear All,

I'm thinking of writing a project that utilises a USB device (PS2 Buzz Game
Controllers http://img.game.co.uk/images/productpages/buzz.jpg <-- not a
plug for the game, mearly a picture), before I start, I would like to know
how easy it is to read the values that are coming from it?

Pluging the device into Windows it detects it as a joystick (with lots of
buttons), and in the control panel I can set the buttons being pressed so I
know it doesn't need any custom drivers or nothing...

Anybody shed any light on this for me...

Regards
Paul.
