Shared .NET Framework installation directory?

I have a solution with several projects that form a suite of related programs.

I have a shared directory on the server that has all the install packages
for the indiidual projects. However, each project has a separate copy of the
..NET Framework installation package. How do I go about making all the
projects point to a single location containing the .NET Framework setup
package?

I tried setting the "Download prerequisites from the following location"
option, but I can't seem to get it to work.
