VB2008 Exp Ed. Prot. Mem Exception only while VS is open

I have several projects that are throwing random protected memory
violation exceptions - but _only_ when Visual Studio is open.

If I launch these same applications via Explorer, they work perfectly.

These exceptions are triggered by xxxx.ShowDialog() where xxxx is
various controls which have the method.

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking at to fix this? It's very
annoying.

Thanks.
