Office 2007 typelib

VS 2005 pro and Office 2007 installed on development machine.

My terminology may be off-base here, but hopefully my question is clear...

I want to create Excel files programatically for use by clients who mostly
have Office 2003 installed. If I create Excel files using the PIA's on my
computer (Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel v8.0.0.0 or COM Office12) I think I
get Excel 2007 files - correct?

Is there some way for me to programatically generate Office 2003 files from
my program?
