ClickOnce - Microsoft KB fix error!

I encountered the expired certificate bug when deploying a Windows
application using ClickOnce.

When I attempted to publish the application, I had to create a new
certificate because the old one apparently had expired. But then when I
published the application with the new certificate, users couldn't update
the application - they had to uninstall and reinstall because the
certificate didn't match.

Then I found the Microsoft fix for this in KB 925521. This should update
the original certificate so it can be published with the application and
match the certificate on the client computers. I compiled the
"RenewCert.exe" application successfully in C++ with no errors.

But when I run the RenewCert.exe as directed, it crashes with "RenewCert has
encountered a problem and needs to close blah blah blah".

What's going on? Am I going to have to tell everybody to uninstall the
application?

Awaiting a meaningful response, Bill
