Color Management question

Hi all,

If I have a computer with an ICC profile set up to calibrate the
monitor colors, AND I write some software using .NET to display
images, does that software have to know anything about the color
profile, and/or do anything to make sure that the profile is used
appropriately when it displays its images? I can't find anything
about this in VS help, or anywhere I've looked so far. I always
assumed that once the profile was set up, the operating system looked
after it all, and it would all be transparent to my software. Can
anyone confirm this? If that is NOT the case, and my software has to
be aware of it, where can I go to find some information about this?
