howto formview, sqldatasource, stored procedures

Hello All,

I have written a page with a sqlserverdatasource control and a formview web
control. I want to use stored procedures to perform CRUD operations.

Formview textboxes bind to table columns to present the data for direct
table operations, but textboxes do not bind with the stored procedure
parameter name in any simple way.

I don’t have an problem with creating and deleting a row because inserting
doesn’t need to present existing data and the deleting accesses the row by
key value.

Editing is a problem because the formview textboxes bind to column names to
present the data, but must bind to stored procedure parameters to update. If
I use the eval function for custom binding on the formview’s textboxes, the
stored procedure parameters don’t wire up for the updating stored procedure
through wizards or properties, leaving method coding.

An added twist is that sp arguments are not identical to table column names.
E.g., authors.[last name] versus @AuthLastN

I thought I could possibly assign the fromview’s textbox.text to the
sqldatasource.controls.parameters(“argumentname ).value in the
sqldatasource_updating method, but the IDE doesn’t recognize the formview’s
textboxes.

I’m sure there must be some way to do this because the sqldatasource
supports stored procedures.

Suggestions appreciated.
