postback and focus problem

I have a webform with a textbox and a button. Both autopostback. If I change
the value in the textbox then click the button (without clicking elsewhere
outside of the box to postback the new value) the original value in the
textbox gets sent (presumably because the original value in the textbox has
not officially changed and posted back when the button was clicked). I have
to click the button twice to get the new value on the server.

How best to correct this without any scripts on the client??
