refer to business object properties by index

I have a base class from which I descend business objects like Customer,
Orders etc.

The objects have properties like CustNum, CustName etc.

I want to refer to these property names by index so rather than
Customer.CustNum I can write Customer(0).

I know I have to have a default Index property in the base class, but I have
no idea how to set it up.

Does someone have an example of what I have to implement in the base class?

implements ?

Default Public Property Item(ByVal index as Integer) As ?
....
