Making a mesage box have focus...

When my app launches I use a splash screen - the built in splash screen that
comes with VB .net 2005.

In my main forms load code (which comes up rigfht after the splash screen) ,
I attempt a connection to the sql server db. If the user cannot connect, I
display a connection error message in a message box. The splash screen is
still being displayed while this is happening. When the message box code
runs, it does not bring up the mesage box and place it over top of the
splash screen. You have to click on the application icon on the application
bar at the bottom of the screen in order to actually see that there was an
"error" connecting...

How can I make sure that the message box is displayed for the user to see??

Thanks, Brad
