WIA and Twain

I'm facing what i consider to be a serious problem, because i can't find the
solution!!!
I've made possible, for the software i'm developing, to aquire images from a
scanner using WIA. The problem is that, when i aquire an image in, for
instance, photo editor, i have the oportunity to choose between the several
drivers availlable for the scanner. These drivers are WIA and Twain drivers.
Both. So, the software i'm developing, must be capable of displaying both
drivers, WIA and Twain and be able to work (aquire) with both. I've searched
google, i've been in www.twain.org,... and for what i can see there is no way
for vb .net to make this task, only in c++ (and i don't know c++). Can you
help me?

My thanks in advanced

What do you see in the twain spec that you think can't be handled by
VB.Net?

Also, you may want to have a look at

http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/twaindotnet.asp

for a C# based example (even though you don't know how to write C++, I
bet you can *read* C#).

Look in the comments section for that example(bottom of the page) and there
is a link to a VB.NET implimentation of this same project. (it may be
several pages back as this particular project has a lot of comments)

I've read that .Net only supports WIA and doesn't support Twain. This was on
a web page when i searched google for "Visual basic .net Twain"
