Hello, Group,
I would like to set up context sensitive help for an application I am
working on. I have been experimenting with HTML Help Workshop to
produce some very simple .chm files with Topics, A-Links and K-Links. I
think that I understand this well enough, but I have run into some
problems when interfacing to the Help system from VB.Net.
I am using the HelpProvider component for this, and find that it works
fine as long as I set the HelpNavigator property on the subject control
to "Topic". However, if I set it to "AssociateIndex" or "KeywordIndex"
I am not so successful.
With a setting of AssociateIndex the Help system always displays the
default topic, independent of the setting of the HelpKeyword property.
With a setting of KeywordIndex, the Help system will display the "Topics
found" dialog box listing the topics associated with the keyword
specified by the HelpKeyword property. But the Help system and the
application are then both hung. (This freezing does not happen in the
case that there is only one Topic associated with the keyword specified.)
I think that both of these "features" (i.e. AssociateIndex and
KeywordIndex) could be useful, but have not been able to find any
helpful documentation or examples.
Is there some way to utilize these types of links when providing context
sensitive help?
(Are there other newsgroups that would be more appropriate for this type
of question?)
Thanks in advance,
Randy
