Windows History Deletion

Hello All

Anyone know how to delete the Windows History using STATURL?

VB.NET 2003 code only (no c++/C#/Google Links, but proper code)

No I am not talking about the TypedURL list, but the contents of the History
folder done the correct way with file time, list entry, interfaces etc

There is an example on codeproject in C#
(http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/ponta.asp) & there is something in
Chinese/Japanese (http://dobon.net/vb/bbs/log3-27/15894.html), but neither
work

I done this many, many years ago in VB6 & I am not sure what site I uploaded
to now (maybe VBCity), but I cannot seem to upgrade that code to VB.NET

Any 'real coders' (rules out MVP's) who can help would be appreciated.

This maybe a Microsoft Dev Support Request question.

TIA

With an attitude like that, I think it's time that 'Newbie Coder' stood up
to be counted instead of hiding behind a cowardly alias.

I think that is the most classic case of biting the hand that feeds you that
I have ever seen.

Agreed

"Newbie Coder" is sounding very much like "Master Programmer" to me.

If you (Newbie) actually want any help then I'd suggest a change in
attitude.

If you just want to point out what you could do in VB6 that you're
struggling to do in .Net then how about posting your VB code and
letting people loose on that.

Best of luck getting the 'help' you need

Of course, if none of the above apply then I apologise, it's just that
there appear to have been quite a lot of negatively phrased questions
of late.

There are two so-called MVP's who answer here; Cor & Herfried, but neither
of them seem to write code any more & just link you to no-use material

So, the so-called MVP's are hopeless when it comes to something slightly
technical, but if it requires a quick search via Google in the total wrong
language you are asking about then they seem to be quite good. If you ask
for code in VB.NET & they send you an article about C++.NET then what use is
that? None. It just gets them another post in the forum & in my eyes just
makes them look stupid for pasting useless content

If there was a way to ask for them to lose their MVP status then I would do
it. You only get MVP if you post a certain amout & that's all.

Up until the past 2 years I was posting replied upto 6 hours a day in
newgroups/programming forums, but never got any respect for it & that is one
reason I stopped coding for a few years. If I could answer 50 posts a day
with real code & get no where then maybe I should just pick a Google link
that is no help to anyone & then maybe I'll become a MVP

So, as you see from the above both Cor & Herfriend would never be able to
code something so complicated so, what help are MVP's in this situation.
That is why I wrote above a Dev request because they will supply the code I
ask for usually within 48 hours of requesting it. However, I have had used
Dev Support in the past & Dev France, UK or USA haven't been able to come up
with the code. Therefore, its gone unsolved. If the coders who wrote Windows
have no idea then MVP's will definately not have a clue

Typical post for an MVP:

How do I write 'Hello, World' in a textbox using VB.NET?

Cor: Search MSDN & you may find it
Herfried: http://www.google.com...

They cannot write:

TextBox1.Text = "Hello, World"

Can you see why I am anti-MVP's now?

One last thing & I am not sure if I am correct, but Herfried has no
programming experience prior to VB.NET

No, I don't think this guy is Master Programmer... Master Programmer
tends to rant and rave and spew more obscenities. His posts are also
not nearly as well written. And it seems he (MP) actually knows VB
..NET, just doesn't like it.

And NewbieCoder, sorry. I don't have an answer.

I don't spend much time in here, so I don't really know either of the
posters, but I doubt they post useless material. What they are probably
doing is linking you with material that hints at what you are trying to
do, but requires you to think.

"Give a man a fish and he'll feed himself for a day. Give a man the
means to catch his own fish however..."
So, the so-called MVP's are hopeless when it comes to something

You do realise that the C++.Net code is using the same framework, don't
you?
If there was a way to ask for them to lose their MVP status then I
would do it. You only get MVP if you post a certain amout & that's

Well that's crap for a start (and I am not a MVP).
Up until the past 2 years I was posting replied upto 6 hours a day in

So why ask in here then?

Not really.
One last thing & I am not sure if I am correct, but Herfried has no
programming experience prior to VB.NET
*IF* that's true, I still don't really see the problem in his/her
posting in a VB.Net forum...

Do you want some cheese with your whine?

If Cor and Herfried post links, it's because they answer the
same darn questions week after week after week, so they post
links to those earlier posts, or to their website(s) where
they have posted questions that are asked frequently.
They respond with code when necessary.

Posting a question here does not *entitle* you to a response.
It's a privilege, granted only by the kindness of others,
not a right.

I totally disagree with you

If you ask for something in one language & you get a a link to a language
you never asked for its not helping anyone except getting them another
pathetic post in the newsgroups.

They don't repond with the necessary code because 98% of the time they
aren't good enough to code the answer

An MVP is supposed to be Most Valueable Professional & in these two cases
the V should be changed to a U meaning 'Useless'

So, Robin keep your cheesy answers for others
