Hi...
I'm looking for some quidance on how to develop and deploy an application
that will be installed by the user(s) on a single PC.
Recognizing that the software could be used by different users having
different login account on the PC, I've developed the software tool so far
to pull values for each user from the current user registry hive. And if
the registry entries aren't setup for the user when new values are being
saved, the application will create the registry entries before saving the
values.
Is this the best way to do it, or am I better off having each user run the
installation process and setup the entries at deploy time and only read the
values from the registry. And if so, how should I handle software removal
of the .exe and other files which are currently stored in the program files
directory if more than one user has installed the software and are sharing
the program files? Do I need to check to see how many users have entries in
the registry on the PC before deleting the files/registry entries? Or
should I put these files in a different directory structure all together?
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thanks
Steve
