The official core reference book for VB.Net is "programming Microsoft
Visual Basic.Net" by Francesco Balena
however for VB.net 2005 you need also the 2003 version as the 2005 book is a

so these 2 books will cover it all

If I search for this book on MSDN, I get endless time references to forums,
but not the book.
