Turn MSCONFIG Startup items on or off with VB Code?

I found where the current scheduled tasks for MSCONFIG startup are
stored in the registry. But I see that the only ones listed are the
currently active tasks. If you had gone into MSCONFIG and turned one
off, after the reboot, that item will no longer be in the registry key.
BUT, it is still listed in MSCONFIG's list of startup tasks, but it is
marked as disabled. Where in the registry would I find those that are
currently disabled?

Or, just how would one manipulate the MSCONFIG startup tasks in
general? I would like to retrieve a list of tasks, see which ones are
enabled or disabled, and then enable or disable one or more or all.
