Application just closes with no error message

I seem to be having a problem which is proving difficult to trace.

The problem appears to be that the application just completely shuts down -
without any error messages - at random times during the day.

It always occurs (I believe) when the application is opening a new window.

The architecture of the application is that there is a main form, with
secondary forms that are opened on demand. The secondary forms are created
as new threads using a shared member of a class, code as follows:

Public Shared Sub DisplayJobProgress(ByVal JobNo As String)
' Display Job Progress
Dim frm As New frmWorkshopJobProcessing(JobNo)
Dim t As New Threading.Thread(AddressOf frm.myShowDialog)
t.Start()
End Sub

The new thread is created to prevent the main form from blocking whilst the
second form is created. I'm wondering if this is what is causing the
problem. I don't know if perhaps it would be best to engineer this in some
other way.

Ideally, I would like to find out what was causing the application to just
disappear (which is how users report the problem).

Can anybody provide any thoughts or ideas to either confirming that
threading is possibly my problem, or to come up with some other way of
tracing the issue?
