How do I get newly edited info back in datagridview after save is made

Bob
I got a 2datagridviews bound to sql serve tables , one parent one child. The
changes are always made only to the child table (add, edit or delete) In the
Child table definition in SQL server I have an automatic generation via
trigger of the date record is modified and the user name of the modifier.
When I hit the dataset.Update code My saves are done OK, all the info is
there when I look at it in sql server, but I do not see the datelastmodified
nor the modified by field in the datagridview being populated with the newly
updated information in SQL server. How do I get these results back in the
datagridview AND stay on the same row that the user was on when he started
the update? I don't just want to do a clear and a fill of the datasets, that
would put my user on the first record of the parent table. There must be a
way to do this with a minimum of load on the client (winforms app) and
server, but I can't put my finger on it.

Any help would be appreciated,

Bob
