How do you get to this newsgroup quickly, AND STAY HERE?

This newgroup (Vb.net General Discussions) is the ONLY one I am using. I want
to be able to get here quickly and stay awhile. But that doesn't seem
possible. Am I missing something?

To get here, I have to go through this long routine -- pick a language
(English), then "Developer", then "Visual Tools" (or something like that),
then "Visual Basic", and FINALLY, "VB.NET General Discussions". I can't find
any shortcut -- each and every time I have to go through that whole routine,
and it is really bad when the response time is slow, as is seems to be most
of the time. (Even though I have a very fast machine with a ton of memory.)

It gets worse: If I enter a New question, or just Reply to someone else's, I
then have to go through another bunch of selctions, entering and reentering
my password (even though I select "remember my email AND password", it only
remembers my email, never my password). When I finally get through that and
post the reply or question, there's another bunch of work ahead... THEN, I
return to the "VB.NET General Discussions" page, but nothing works!! I have
to start almost all over again to "refresh" the page. It's really getting
old, but I can't stand the thought of giving up -- this thing, when I finally
get finished, gets me in touch with people who really can help me. I don't
know where to get this help anywhere else.

I saw some note somewhere on the Microsoft Support area that mentions
"favorites" and there is a "Profile" to call up and select a "favorite" and
go there. But there doesn't seem to be any way to actually CREATE a
"favorite".

Any help with this mess would be very greatly appreciated.

I see that with normal answering I dont reach you because you have sent this
to dotnet.languages.vb which you never read and therefore I have mailed this
as well.

I cannot trace your problem because I don't know your starting point. I use
NNTP as well.
You can try if there is something ghosted on your computer.

The pages on MSDN are in my opinion not well done, you can often not get the
right link. What I do than is at my last click, go to the hyperlink that has
to do it, right click and choose copy hyperlink.

Than I put that in the URL and get the page again. Than I can set the link
in my Favorites.

Hello Bob
instead of using the MSDN groops web interface you can use anny prefered
NNTP reader.

every Windows computer has standard Outlook express wich is not only a mail
client but also a NNTP client .

open Outlook express , select accounts , select the tab news , enter your
credentials , as server enter news.microsoft.com retrieve and select the
required newsgroups you want to subscribe to .

Use a news reader. You've already got Outlook Express installed if yo are
using a Windows machine... Go Tools->Accounts and add a news account:
news.microsoft.com - you'll find the microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb
newsgroup in the list of available groups :)

Same here. I'd prefer an NNTP interface, but since port 119 is blocked
where I am most of the time I'm forced to use a WWW interface. Google
beats that clunky MSDN interface hands down. And, like you said,
you've got the handy search functionality right at your fingertips.
