I'm relatively new to VB.NET, although I've been a VB programmer for
over 10 years. I'm looking for a controls suite (something like
Infragistics or ComponentOne). However, I've been burned before with
products that have poor documentation and I don't want to get burned again.
I'm not looking for a suite who's main feature is whiz-bang aesthetics.
I'm looking for increased functionality, but I don't want to spend hours
on end getting it because I have to decipher perfunctory (mechanical,
careless, superficial) documentation. I'm looking for clear
documentation, good examples, and a helpful number of "how to ..."
tutorials. Good documentation also shows me that the developers care
about their end-users.
I've read opinions that condemn Infragistics and ComponentOne documentation.
Does anyone have high regard for them? Any other suites that people feel
have good documentation? 3 1232
I use Infragistics in most of my work, however I have to admit that the
docs are, at best, inadequate. The samples are the best help when
using their components. With that said I have both ComponentOne and
Infragistics and I prefer Infragistics b/c of it's thoroughness and all
the components, once learned, use a similar model for programming and
share most functions.

Hello,
I do not have any information about either of these companies. They
both have a suite of components that are okay at best. I have no need
for most any of these types of controls. However, if you are looking
for grid/spreadsheet functionality, I would suggest you looking at
FarPoint Technologies ( www.farpointspread.com). Their spreadsheet
component is very functional with great documentation and samples.
Also, their technical support is top notched.
