MDI tab child forms

I have an MDI parent form that creates mdi child forms each of which are
represented by a tab item. I use a third party control to generate the tabbed
MDI child forms.

Each tab or MDI child form displays information regarding a specific asset
that is determined by an asset number. The asset numbers are entered through
a global tool bar.

I can enter an asset number and then display several MDI child forms. For
example: I can display the history child form, the test entry child form, the
transfer child form and so on. All of which display different information
about the same asset.

If I have more than one MDI child forms open (History, Test Entry, Transfer)
and I change the asset number in the global tool bar while the transfer MDI
child form is active, and then click on an inactive MDI child form tab to
make an inactive tab / MDI child form active, I want to be able to re-display
the MDI child form with information from the new asset number.

I can trap the tab click event from within the MDI parent form and I can
make a call to a sub that resides in the specific MDI child form
(TestEntry.StartTestEntry) to start the process for that particular form, but
the information on the MDI child form does not change even though the code is
executed that queries the database to change the information displayed on the
form. I have tried refreshing the form which does not work. If I execute the
show method for the form, a second MDI child form is displayed which is not
the functionality I am looking for.

How can I update the information on an MDI child form from within an MDI
parent form?
