Pasting clipboard data into powerpoint datasheet

I'm trying to extract data from a database in VB.net and paste it
directly into a powerpoint slide.
I've tried doing this one cell at a time but that runs too slowly to be
practical (lots of data and a very big presentation) so I want to build
up an array of data, put it onto the clipboard and then paste it all in
one go into powerpoint.
I've tried
Dim dataArry(NumRows, NumCols) As String

'dataArry gets filled with the data I want to chart

Clipboard.SetDataObject(dataArry)
myChart.thisDataSheet.Range("00").Paste()
But this doesn't work

I'm guessing that it's not in the correct format for powerpoint to know
what to do with it but I don't know how to change it from a 2d array
into whatever powerpoint is expecting

Anyone got any ideas ?
Thanks
