Converting Linux scripts to VB.NET

I am going to convert a series of cronjob perl / expect scripts running on
an old linux box to run on a Windows Server. (2003)
These scripts currently call the M.I.T. download executable of pgp (spelled
FREE). I have the MS-DOS varinat of this also. A couple of our vendors can't
deal with GnuPG, so I am stuck with PGP and can't (won't) afford the current
for sale version.

I have never tried to call pgp from vb, and was wondering if anyone had some
newbie advice on how not to reinvent the wheel. I don't want to install perl
on our production servers, and would prefer to just write some vb.Net. I
have this also running on a bunch of cobbled together cmd scripts using NT
resource kit tools for emailing the results, etc.

Essentially the existing scripts take a file, encrypt it, and ftp to a
server and upload the encrypted file, and email the results to various folks
who need to know if the xfer succeeded.

My goal is to have everything nice and clean in an vb prgram, without a
bunch of third party utils installed on the server.

Any lessons learned or generic guidance before I begin on this is greatly
appreicated.
