Excel Automation with Excel 97 thru 2003

I have VB.Net code that opens Excel files and imports data from them. It
works fine for all versions up to 2003 and has for over a year. We have
users updating to Office 2003 and the Excel automation breaks on those
machines. Does coding to the earliest supported version of Excel not apply
once you get to 2003?

Check: http://www.gemboxsoftware.com/ExcelLite.htm#Automation

Few possible solutions:

a) Recompile your app with a reference to Excel 2003 type libraries (and
upgrade all your users to Excel 2003), or

b) Stop using automation at all (use OleDb or some third-party control).
