DictionaryBase object filling with gobbledegook on remove()

I have a bug that is driving me crazy. I call the remove method on a class
inheriting from DictionaryBase and the Dictionary object seems to scramble
the inner hashtable, replacing one of the string keys with an array of 11
items! Most of these array items are themselves entries in that dictionary,
but some are just plain empty.

So far as I can tell I am not trying to remove dictionary entries while
enumerating through the collection, so how can this be happening?
