I am hoping someone can poit me in a right direction for how is should look
at implementing this with efficiency
I have a form which has a combo box with a list of Schools this is the top
level of the relationship
There is a second combobox which lists the School Bus Routes related to the
above school
Finally there is a datagrid which lists the bus stops for the selected
route.
Problem i am having is i am not sure how to best go about retriving the
necessary data while maintaining low amount of overhead for connections to
the server and be efficient in retrieving the rows i need to populate my
controls.
Before adding the stops to the form i was simply retrieving all the schools
and all the routes I would then create a data view for the routes, which was
then bound to the route combobox, and rowfilter the dataview based on the
seleted value of the schools combo box. Whenever the selected value of
school combo box changed i would refilter the routes view.
Now I had thought about doing something similar for the stops but I believe
this would be imrpactical because retrieving the stops without using a where
clause would be tremendously inefficient.
I guess what I'm saying is i need suggestions from people more experienced
than i am with these kinds of relationships.
As a final footnote this database is being run in PostGres using the .NET
data provider hosted at
http://gborg.postgresql.org/project/...rojdisplay.php
