Listviews and Conditional Checkboxes

Hello,

I have a requirement in a project that I am working on that has me a
bit puzzled. One of the requirements is that certain listviewitems in
a listview control may or may not have a checkbox in the leading
column.

I have tried using the state image collection to dictate a three state
checkbox, but it sporadically changes to the third state (the empty
image). Additionally, I have tried adding checkbox controls to the
listview's control collection. While this could work, I see this as
being a pain.

Any suggestions, short of trying to get a modification to the
requirements? ;-)
