I have an application created with a VB.NET deployment project. The
shortcuts placed in the start menu no longer work on two of the PCs
where this application is installed. They used to work, but seem to
have become corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the application
doesn't fix the problem. For this particular application, the shortcuts
contain essential command line parameters, so the entire application is
disabled on those PCs until I get this solved.
If these were ordinary shortcuts, I'd have no problem. Because they
were created with VB.NET, however, they are "Windows Installer
Shortcuts". Does anyone know how to fix a Windows Installer Shortcut
which is malfunctioning? I wish I could be more specific about how the
shortcuts are malfunctioning, but the behavior is really quite
mysterious. One shortcut seems to be running the application without
the required command line parameters; another shortcut seems to be
running the wrong application (albeit a related one) -- But these are
just guesses. All I really know is that they aren't working on these
PCs the way they used to, and the way they still do on other PCs.
I could really use some good documentation on Windows Installer
Shortcuts. All advice is appreciated.
