In the IDE?

In VB6 I used a function I found on the net to determine if I was in the IDE
when the program was running. I would enable little helper functions to get
me through the screens quicker. For example, I would populate a form with
dummy data and cause the OK button to be clicked.

Now that I've made the switch to VB.NET how can I do something similar? I'm
using VB.Net 2003 so don't try to get me excited by something in the My
namespace or any cool stuff that will be here in November.

First off I would try to upgrade your code. Open you vb6.0 in 2003 and it
will ask you to upgrade. That is where I would start.

\\\
#If DEBUG Then
Console.WriteLine("Debug mode.")
#Else
Console.WriteLine("Release mode.")
#End If
///

Make sure that the option "Configuration settings" -> "Build" "Define DEBUG
constant" in the project properties is checked.

- and/or -

You can check if a debugger is attached:
'System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached'.

Like this ...

If System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached Then
' Invoke Helper
End If
