Microsoft Communication Control

I am using the Microsoft Communication Control in my solution for RS232/RS485
serial communication. I have been working on this solution for the past six
months without incident. Today when I ran the program I got the following
Error #8002 when it tries to set the PortOpen property to TRUE.
'System.RunTime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in
axinterop.mscommlib.dll
Additional information:Exception from HRESULT:0x800A1F42
What happened? I haven't changed anything having to do with the
communication tool.

the comm port is already open. Make sure you check to see if the port is
open before you use it.
Also make sure that the comm port on windows did not change.

Hi,

Nothing happened in MSComm. There is something (somewhere) that has opened
the port -- or left it in a state where it could not be opened.

You may be interested in downloading my DesktopSerialIO dll (free), but it
won't solve this problem -- there still will be an error because of the
inability of Windows to open the port.
