Validating Event

When in the validating event handler is there a way to tell which control
the user has requested to get focus next?

If the user has requested to exit the app I do not want to validate the
current control.

While this sounds like a good idea, unfortunately the validating event
of a control occurs prior to the enter event of the next control.
Validating has no way of knowing where the user is headed next.
