Why are my forms no longer forms?

I have a number of forms in my solution, all of which inherit from a base form.

In just a few cases, the IDE no longer sees them as forms, but as code, so
they no longer open in the designer.

If I look in the project files, the SubType of these files has changed from
"Form" to "Code".

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening?

Thanks

I have this also from time to time (VS 2003). I hope they will fix it in the
next version. I close/reopen the solution. If this doesn't help, I restart
the IDE. If this doesn't help, I restart the machine. If this doesn't help,
I restart my life. Umm.. no, but the first three are ok.

I've had this before where my [Base Class'] Constructor or
Designer Classes throw Exceptions. This seems to upset the IDE
mightily. However, I've still been able to use the Solution Viewer's
context menu [to try] to open the Form in the Designer, even though
the toolbar button has disappeared.

Another option is to just add a new blank form to the project. That
usually fixes the others. Then delete the new form. This may be
faster than closing and reopening the solution, depending on its size.
