program hang

hi

i have been using this following command to send printfile to a parallel
port printer.

Success = WriteFile(hParallelPort, Buffer, lBytestoWrite, lBytestoWrite,
IntPtr.Zero)

it works wonderful and there is nothing wrong with it BUT my program also
want be to flag an error if somehow a printer error occur for example "out of
paper". i try to simulate a similar "out of paper" situation, the printer
would keep trying to feed in paper...and most importantly the command would
hang at the command line above. i want to get out of this command when it
occur but i do not know how...

Pls advise

Thanks
