Installed programs Icon

Hi
Can someone tell me how you set the Icon that is visible in the Windows
"Add/Remove Programs" Utility.

I am trying to deploy a VB Dot Net Application and have its Icon display
there rather than just a yellow folder.

Thanks,

Doug

Doug,

Will you tell use what you mean with the Add/Remove Program Utility?

Doug,

Maybe a better question, what instalation software are you using for that?

When you are using the standard development, than you can select your
project with the solution explorer. Than click the folder (not the right
click) properties. In top you see than the Add/Remove folder icon.

you set this in your deployment project -- in the solution explorer,
click the deployment project and then go into the properties window (F4
in my environment). the first property should be the
AddRemoveProgramsIcon

Rinze,

Thank you very much, I first thought he meant a kind tiny Install Shield,
shortly after that I understood what he meant. See my other answer in a way
to escape if Doug was maybe still meaning a kind op updater utillity.

Hi Cor,

I appreciate all the questions I get answered here.
This appears to be another quirk I had already set that property but in the
"Add Remove Programs" Window Utility, it still just shows a yellow folder.

In the Property"
AddRemoveProgramIcon it shows (Icon)
I set this by clicking the down (expand) arrow and then selecting
Browse....
It Shows MyIcon.ico and displays it in the window.
I reset it selecting Browse...
Look in: Application Folder, Select MyIcon.ico and click OK

But when I run the Install file Setup.exe, it installs the program, adds the
shortcuts I want (with correct Icon) but in the Windows Add/Remove Programs
it just shows a yellow folder.

Any ideas why it isn't working?

Thanks

Doug

I created a new windows form project and added nothing to that
I added to the solution a deployment wizard and have chosen in that for only
primary output
I added to that project an new item what was an icon file
I selected the deployment project and choose the property view
There I changed the add/remove icon to the one I could find in the
application folder
I build it
Installed it
Look in my add/remove programs and saw a program with the name Setup1 with
the icon I selected.

I think that I cannot do more to test it for you.

I hope this helps,

Cor,
It doesn't help but thank you for testing it for me.
I don't know why it isn't working but it is not a major issue. I will, when
I get a chance delete the deployment project and re-create it to see if that
fixes it.

Again, thanks for looking into it for me.
