Need major help with Webservices/SOAP/XML project

Greetings,

We have been given access to get our accounts information from another
company. They present the information in SOAP/XML format.

I have never done anything like this before. In my research it seems that
you must point to an .asmx file. However, the link that they have given me
does not even end in a file name, just a directory. Because they are a
huge, mega-company, the only answer that I've received is that "the URL
provided is what you would use to access our WebServlet by http push."

I've downloaded several webservices examples for vb.net and they all point
to a .asmx file.

I also need to send a userid and password but can't really figure out where
to "send" it to.

I've read a lot on MSDN about webservices but none seem to address my
situation. I'm very confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
