Setting a reference to Sharepoint

I want to write a vb.net app to work with sharepoint, but I don't know what
reference to use. I browsed the COM tab and looked for something like
"Microsoft Sharepoint" but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone know if you can set a reference to Sharepoints object library?
If so, what is the name of it?

Thanks,
John
