Delete/Move the project from it's original location on your HDD and restart
Visual Studio.
The project should be deleted from the list.

This works. Thanks. But when put the project back in the same location on
the HD, it shows back up on the Start page. Any thoughts on Removing that
reference without deleting or removing the folder?

Close the Visual Studio if it's open.
In the registry browse to this location using RegEdit.exe:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio \7.1\ProjectMRUList"
and delete the value that points to your project on the right panel (make
sure to backup the key before you make any changes).

Also after you delete, for example "File 4", rename the last value in the
list, for example "File 15" to the name that you deleted (File 15 --> File
4)

And restart Visual Studio.
