VB STANDARD AND ODBC

I need to connect to a paradox 5.x and SqlBase tables. The data adapter
doesn't work because I only have VB.NET Standard. How does one connect thru
ODBC without the data adapter control?
Any references to textbooks or code samples would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark

Tricky one for me to answer, as I have a full VS.NET - but I was under the
impression that the .NET framework SDK (free download) comes with an ODBC
provider, and that it should work with all versions of VS.NET and VB.NET...

Standard edition doesn't contain the designers, but it should be possible to
set up the connection by code.
