Forms Apps slow to start

We're in the process of rewriting a large number of individual VB6
programs that make up a single application into .Net, and (finally) moving
to deriving from an Ancestor form and UserControls that have "standard"
functionality embedded within them.

All fine and dandy.

Except that each program is **very** slow to get off the ground -
ten to twelve seconds is typical - and I think /most/ of it is down to the
Just-In-Time linking that the Framework is doing.

Can anyone point me n the direction of any resources on how (if at all)
I can reduce the startup times for my programs?

TIA,
Phill W.
