Scan And OCR

I need to write a VB.NET application that uses ActiveX to scan
(remotely) a paper, OCR it, and save it into some file.

- Where should I begin?
- Any sample code to learn VB.NET for that purpose?
(I already know some VB)
- What software should I use? (Omnipage?)
- Where to download the ActiveX from?

Thank you
