Broadcasting on a Lan like SQLDMO and SQL Server

Hi All,

We have written a service that will sit on one or more servers and the
client software that will interface with this service will be installed
on many workstations.

What we are trying to achieve in configuring these clients is to do
something like MSSQL and SQLDMO. The client will do a broadcast of
somesort and the service will respond thus automatically configuring the
client software.

It is possible that the tcp/ip port used on one server may not be used
on another server due to tcp/ip conflicts.

Does anyone have an example as to how we can do this.

Thank You
Mark Hollander

I have not done this, but I dont think you have any issues of conflicting
port numbers, because these are a further resolution of the machine's
connectivity via its IP address.
