Data Grid - setfocus problem

(as the user new the record) In my datagrid, I can set the focus on the 2nd
column. BUT not 1st , why ?
dgInvCharges.CurrentCell = New DataGridCell(1, 1) <- it can set the focus on
2nd column,1st row
dgInvCharges.CurrentCell = New DataGridCell(1, 0) >-- it can't set the focus
on 1st column,1st row why ??
Thanks
