Disconnected dataset update

hi,

I am running a long calculation process which get the data values from
a dataset and update value at certain row in the same dataset. Now I
am not sure to update DB ( Oracle ) do i need to keep the connection
open by which i am creating this Dataset or can i update once i finish
my process of calculation by opening a new connection starting the
transaction and then update Oracle
